Highlight of last year was Sir Ranulph Fiennes at the Literature festival. 500 people heard him speak at the Royal Masonic School. He described his transglobe expedition and the climbing of Everest and was both amusing and modest. A collection for Marie Curie Cancer Care as well as a donation from the Festival raised almost £1000.

Virginia Ironside pon the perils of growing old.
